Oh man, I’ve been baaaad about posting here, I’m so sorry. So much has happened that I forget to post updates here once in a while. I just wanted to discuss a few last minute things on my mind before the year ends, things that might be helpful for you when designing or even upgrading your blog.
1. [ + ] New WordPress Version[ - ] Close
Yup, the newest and greatest WordPress version is out. It’s REALLY different, so if you’re one of those dogs that don’t like to learn new tricks, you might want to wait a while. If you’re excited about the new changes out in 2.7, then I’d say go ahead and upgrade. BUT BE WARNED, not all plugins work with this new version yet. I’ve had to disable a couple of my own plugins. It’s not going to necessarily “break” your blog, but some features that you’ve learned to love may have to be let go until they are made compatible with 2.7.
2. [ + ] Client Info Sites[ - ] Close
I’ve been asked a lot about “client info” sites based on WordPress blogs. Yes, I do them. If you want them to match your blog, I can create one as little as $175. Client info sites usually utilize a form script, one of which I use on this site called Machform. You will have to purchase a license first before having me install it. I have yet to purchase licenses from there in bulk, but may do so if the demand gets greater. Client Info sites make transforming your photography site one step closer to a “blog site”, which is an all inclusive blog that replaces a traditional static website. I hope to provide these types of sites in the future, once I figure out a good system for creating flash galleries to hold your portfolios.
3. [ + ] Collapsible Elements[ - ] Close
A new feature I’ve discovered called collapsible elements makes showing/hiding information quick and easy for your blog. The use of it is demonstrated right on this list! Just click on the list headings and the hidden information opens up, much like inline comment forms do. You can also see it at work when you click on the “About Blogs for Photogs” link on the menu bar above.
This feature is available as a deluxe customization for $25.
